Generally speaking...Cardio plays a big role in obtaining great abdominals and a lean physique. Anyone who is serious about developing strong, tight abs needs to have a strong cardio program. You need cardio to burn the excess fat that accumulates easily in the abdominal area. Weight training and cardio work synergistically in the fight against fat. The bottom line....get on the bike and pedal!! Do cardio.

A Good Cardio Routine
If you are in decent shape and not grossly overweight, try 20 minutes at a moderate pace on the stationary bike or treadmill. Mixing up your cardio program with use of a variety of machines will continue to challenge your body and keep you interested and engaged for the long haul. Sure, you will have a favorite, but don't get stuck using it alone.

Try to get your cardio work done first thing in the morning at least four days a week. You may add five minutes in duration every week until you hit 45 minutes, then start increasing the level of intensity. Go slow and warm up your pace, and remember to stretch after you have warmed up and before you start your intense routine.
